This award category provides recognition for companies that devise original solutions to problems through innovative and original design. The successful company has to prove that they have reduced costs or improved performance, quality and safety through design. The category focuses particularly on those companies that have shown initiative and creativity in finding design solutions that benefit the UK rail industry as a whole.
“The rail industry is very important to us and, by sponsoring this award, we are delighted to be able to give a little back to our customers and colleagues who work so hard to achieve excellence in this sector,” said Simon Goodwin, Managing Director of Weidmüller UK.
“We’ve chosen to sponsor the Design Innovation award because its focus on creative solutions that deliver major benefits closely matches Weidmüller’s own business focus. We’re confidently looking forward to seeing some impressive entries and we’re equally confident that the judges will select a worthy winner!”
Now in its fifth year, the UK Rail Industry Awards brings together the leaders and decision-makers running the rail industry for the sector’s biggest and most prestigious celebration. The event highlights and rewards the hard work and achievements of the dedicated organisations, teams and individuals that work tirelessly to deliver an efficient and robust rail network, which continues to be one of the safest in Europe.
As well as sponsoring the Design Innovation award, Weidmüller has been shortlisted alongside its partner Thales for an award in the Outstanding Projects over £20m category. Weidmüller’s work with Thales on the Four Lines Modernisation Project for London Underground – which is currently the largest railway re-signaling project in the world – impressed the judges and secured the company a place alongside Thales in the final.
