“WoW” Weidmüller’s new Crimpfix E automatic stripper and crimper

“Our new generation of machines for the efficient processing of wire-end ferrule reel material with plastic collars.”

With our new Crimpfix E electrically powered automatic stripper and crimper,
we are providing a new generation of machines for the economical processing of wire-end ferrule reel material with plastic collars.

The new electrically powered Crimpfix automatic stripper and crimper allows for the efficient processing of wire-end ferrules with plastic collars as reel material.

Crimpfix E activates previously unused rationalisation potential, as wiring in panel building is expensive and time-consuming. One of the most expensive tasks is the assembly of cables, which involves extensive manual work.

The Crimpfix E automatic stripper and crimper allows for the efficient, stationary crimping of wire-end ferrule reel material with plastic collars in cable cross-section ranges from 0.5 to 2.5 mm2 – in the field and in the workplace.

Crimpfix E automates individual work steps, significantly increases efficiency and reduces the time/costs required for the whole process. “Optimised installation times” is the main requirement that forward-looking markets are asking of their strategic partners. Thanks to our 30 years of experience in the field, we have a convincing answer in the shape of a practical, high-performance portfolio of tools to enable the efficient processing of wire material. Crimpfix E is the latest addition to this comprehensive range of tools.

Indeed, the new Crimpfix E automatic stripper and crimper is quick, simple and flexible
for users either in the workshop or on site. After connecting the electrically
powered tool to the mains, it is ready to use straight away. Crimpfix E represents
a new generation of tools in that it has been developed to enable the complete
assembly of conductors, i.e. stripping and crimping. There is no need to change
the fittings: the combined automatic stripper and crimper is fitted with a flexibly
adjustable stripping unit and a crimping drum as standard.

Crimpfix E is designed especially for small and medium series with a conductor cross-section of 0.5 to 2.5 mm2, i.e. the most frequently used cross-sections. The stationary, electrically powered Crimpfix E device is also ideal as an entry-level model. It is quick and efficient at processing conductors with standard PVC insulation and wire- end ferrules with plastic collars as reel material with a connection length of
8 mm.

Crimpfix E is robust in design, with an interior made entirely from metal. It has impressively long maintenance intervals, low wear and a long service life

Crimpfix E is robust in design – its interior is made completely from metal. The new automatic stripper and crimper has impressively long maintenance intervals, low wear levels and a long service life. Another advantage is that it is really easy to use: Crimpfix E has an adjustable stripping unit and a display showing meter readings for the day, total and servicing. The service meter shows
the maintenance intervals.

Adjusting to the relevant cross-section range is
a simple process involving just a hexagon key

It is easy to adjust to the relevant cross-section range and just requires a hexagon key which is supplied. A conical funnel makes it easier to feed in the conductor to be processed.

Crimpfix E can process different cross-sections without having to change tools. Users simply adjust the stripping blade and the crimping drum. The stripping blades are very easy to change, with a separate menu option that is simple to operate.

The built-in display shows the device setting and the various meter readings – day, total and service

Crimpfix E weighs 16 kg and has a compact design, measuring just 230 mm in height, 288 mm in width and 345 mm in depth. Crimpfix is the name given by Weidmüller to its range of automated tools covering different user
requirements, conductor cross sections and pulse times.

“WoW” 2017 is a jubilee year for Weidmüller as it made its first appearance at the Hannover Messe 65 years ago

“In 1952, the Detmold-based electrical engineering company took part for the first time with a small stand at what is now the world’s largest industrial fair.”

The world’s largest industrial fair is taking place in Hanover in two weeks’ time. For the 70th time, companies from all over the world will convene in the capital of Lower Saxony at the end of April to present their latest products and solutions to the world. Electrical engineering specialist Weidmüller is also celebrating a small jubilee: between 27 April and 6 May 1952, Weidmüller took part for the first time in the industrial fair with a small stand. Back then, it was still known as the Deutsche Industrie-Messe (German Industrial Fair). “As a young company in the region, the aim at the time was to showcase products and new developments such as the then SAK terminal strip with patented steel clamping yoke and thus tap into a larger market,” explains Weidmüller’s Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, José Carlos Álvarez Tobar.

Caption 1: Weidmüller took part in the Hannover Messe for the first time with a small stand in 1952.

In 1952, the company demonstrated five different products at its stand number 703 in hall 9a – from the screw-on insulating material series terminal through cast-encapsulated and steel-encapsulated terminal boxes to multi-pin, disconnectable device terminals. “The range also included the then innovative terminals made of leakage-current-resistant pressed material, which were presented with three different connection systems and deliberately made from impact-resistant insulating material – a material which had very much proven its worth in switchgear technology at the time and which was in widespread use,” reports Álvarez Tobar.

Caption 2: In 2016, the Detmold-based electrical engineering company welcomed US president Barack Obama to its stand.

A lot has changed since then – the company now presents its innovations on two-storey stand number B58, covering nearly 650 square metres in hall 11. “Across 22 themed areas, we show our customers from all over the world our current product range and all the latest innovations,” explains Álvarez Tobar. “At the same time, there are a number of different live applications so that visitors can also experience the products, solutions and services in use. Once again this year, one of the highlights is definitely our Industry 4.0 cockpit and the link between our engineering software and ‘augmented reality’,” reports Álvarez Tobar. “Visitors can use 3D glasses to view the mounting rails designed by the software directly in the panel and receive additional information. There is also a focus on the topics of data analysis and predictive maintenance.”

“Every year, the Hannover Messe represents the perfect opportunity to showcase our company and our solutions and applications in a perfect environment and credibly and convincingly with respect to our brand values of close personal relationships, new technologies and excellent services,” explains Marion Sommerwerck, the Vice President of Corporate Communications at Weidmüller, who is responsible for global brand positioning. “The stand provides the backdrop for high-quality, exciting presentation of products, technologies and services and a platform for dialogue communication and hospitality. I am looking forward to seeing how the visitors react to our stand.”

WoW: “You want smart solutions for elevator applications.
Our wiring system for elevator shafts makes it possible”

A robust and compact connection box holds together all the components and brings your installation under complete control – from floor to floor, level to level. Increase efficiency and reliability while decreasing installation time and material complexity with the FieldPower® Elevator shaft wiring system.

Whether your application involves passenger or freight elevators, new installation or modernization, low-rise buildings or multi-level structures, the industry sets high requirements for elevator technology.

The traditional installation of the electrical control systems has remained a laborious and time-consuming task, e.g. to install cable ducts, prepare single wires or cables, ensure a secure interruption of safety chains etc. Weidmüller as your partner in Industrial Connectivity has developed a smart solution to connect a flat cable per floor, providing energy, signals and data:

  • Two key components: Elevator shaft wiring box and 11- pole flat cable (9 copper wires/2 fillers).
  • From a twin-pointed piercing contact (to connect flat cable) to a quick and reliable PUSH IN technology (to connect wires for car call, floor indicator, etc).
  • Configurable assemblies for different functionalities (feed-in, landing, bus, safety circuit, pit).
  • Five simple handling steps for an easy shaft wiring installation without need of special tools.
  • Simple and fault-free assembly in the shaft or through pre-configuration.
  • Substantial reduction of shaft wiring time.
  • Decreased number of required components and optimised logistic costs.

Our new RJ45 plug-in connectors for up to 10 Gbit/s which can be assembled on-site

We are offering new RJ45 plug-in connectors, which can be assembled on-site, for transmission speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s.

The new and compact RJ45 plug-in connectors, with straight or angled cable routing, allow users to create outlets in four different directions. Without using any special tools, users connect the plug-in connector in only around one minute, with a triple piercing contact to guarantee secure contacting.

Nowadays, systems are increasingly being decentralised – a development which requires cabinet sizes to become ever smaller. Requirements are also growing in terms of data transmission speed. Then there’s the fact that people are needing to route cables in tighter and tighter spaces too. Often, all of this results in bent or broken cables, which causes lower transmission performance, data loss or system downtimes.

The new RJ45 plug-in connectors from Weidmüller provide an ideal solution to these problems, since cables can be routed either straight or at an angle in four different directions (up/down and right/left). The new plugs can be simply and quickly assembled on-site – at the impressive speed of around one minute – and without the need for any special tools.

Indeed, the pioneering and compact RJ45 plug-in connectors deliver impressive space-saving connection solutions and offer application-appropriate cable routing, as well as being extremely easy to install – for powerful and efficient Ethernet connections.

Weidmuller have enhanced their u-remote IP20 remote I/O fieldbus coupler portfolio to incorporate POWERLINK.

“u-remote ensures maximum fieldbus compatibility and extensive diagnostics testing”

u-remote is one of the first third-party products to allow complete integration in the latest version of the B&R Automation Studio. The modularly designed u-remote I/O system with POWERLINK interface connection is detailed using modular XDD files, meaning it can be incorporated easily in the engineering environment. When it comes to integrating machines and system parts into complex production lines, users can benefit from u-remote’s high migration and diagnostic capabilities.

Increasingly specific customer demands require solutions for a flexible, individually adjustable fieldbus architecture that is also fast and straightforward to implement. The new u-remote fieldbus coupler from Weidmüller supports the POWERLINK Industrial Ethernet standard and its convenient handling ensures straightforward installation, whilst the extensive diagnostic functions help to optimise and speed up processes. A web server integrated in the fieldbus coupler enables system diagnostics to be carried out even before connecting to the control unit. Thanks to its certification from the user organisation EPSG, u-remote is fully compatible with POWERLINK version 2.

The new u-remote POWERLINK fieldbus couplers powerful web server allows users to parameterise and simulate the functionality of inputs and outputs without having to connect a control unit for the diagnostics. In addition, u-remote’s power supply for inputs and outputs is separated into two 10 A current paths (the feed-in current for input and output modules is max. 10 A for each). The I/O modules thus guarantee flexible planning and distribution without the need for extra power.

The integrated web server also facilitates phased commissioning operations and speeds up maintenance work. Whether it’s for remote diagnostics or the local simulation of inputs as well as forcing outputs, u-remote requires no special software, just a standard Internet browser.

The new POWERLINK fieldbus coupler enhances the Weidmüller fieldbus coupler portfolio for PROFIBUS-DP, PROFINET, EtherCAT, Modbus-TCP, EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet and CANopen. u-remote fieldbus couplers allow users to respond to individual market demands: the system simply migrates from one fieldbus to another when the coupler is exchanged. That means, depending on customer requirements, the requisite fieldbus coupler is simply placed in front of the u-remote station and thus provides flexible solutions for a wide variety of environments.

gr_ur20_station_powerlink_64_modules_det_1Every fieldbus coupler makes provision for 64 I/O modules and can operate in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 60°C. Naturally, the new fieldbus coupler also complies with current requirements and standards.

You can find more information on the POWERLINK field bus coupler on our website or alternatively, call us on 0845 094 2006.
